In some ways, yes, but it depends on job type, skills, and support rather than age alone. Younger workers are often concentrated in entry-level and routine-heavy roles where tasks are easier to automate or redesign with AI (e.g., basic admin, simple content production, first-line customer support, scheduling, data cleanup). These jobs can be disrupted because companies may “lift the floor” by using AI to let fewer people do the same workload.
At the same time, younger workers can be better positioned to adapt because they are earlier in their career, can retrain faster, and may be more comfortable experimenting with new tools. The bigger risk is when early jobs stop teaching the fundamentals. If AI handles the basics, some workers may miss the “practice reps” that build judgment, workflow understanding, and professional confidence.
Vulnerability increases when someone has narrow experience, limited mentoring, or works in organizations that treat AI mainly as a cost-cutting tool rather than a capability booster.
So, younger workers can face higher exposure at the entry level, but they also have more runway to build AI-complementary skills and steer into roles where human judgment matters.
